Intel recently has announced the launch of the 11th Gen Intel Core processors known as Tiger Lake, the Intel Atom x6000E series and the Intel Pentium, Celeron N and J series processors, which were codenamed Elkhart Lake. Based on these new platforms, Intel jointly launched several new industrial IoT products with 8 companies. Among them, IEI and QNAP, from IEI Group, propose the “AI in Retail” project, and introduce the new AI-ready embedded system - DRPC-240-ULT6 - in advance.
11th Gen Intel Core processors have the features of high-speed processing, computer vision, and low-latency deterministic computing required for basic IoT applications, to meet real-time computing needs and to provide stable and reliable performance in different usage scenarios in industry, retail, healthcare, smart cities and more.
In recent years, IEI and QNAP have been committed to helping the retail industry innovate by providing a variety of highly integrated software and hardware solutions. One of the successful projects is the brand new one-stop service designed for a leading sport retail company in Taiwan. Multiple cameras are installed in each retail store to collect data and perform AI processing at the base, such as object detection, people counting, skeleton detection, etc. Intel’s OpenVINO toolkit and IEI’s Mustang series VPU accelerator cards are used to perform high-speed and low-power multi-tasking, showing the influence of high performance.
Jordan Jiang, CEO of IEI, unveiled that IEI will launch a new AI-ready embedded system, the DRPC-240-ULT6, in the future. It is powered by 11th Gen Intel Core processor built on 10nm SuperFin process technology, and features Intel Iris Xe graphics with Intel Deep Learning Boost AI engine. The accuracy of INT8, FP16, and FP32 can be increased by 2 to 5 times, which could potentially become the strongest backing for each vertical solution.
